Founded in 1993
The Naples Orchestra and Chorus, officially and lovingly known as “I Musici Di Napoli, Inc.”, was founded in 1993 by Ralph Stewart who also became its first conductor.
Premier Volunteer Music Ensemble
After a modest beginning over twenty years ago, The Naples Orchestra and Chorus has grown to become a premier multi-generational music ensemble in Naples, Florida. Appoximately 90 combined Orchestra and Chorus members have performed exceptional classical and popular music for the greater Naples Community, including special Easter Week concerts featuring Theodore DuBois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ. To celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2014, we commissioned American composer, Catherine McMichael, to create a work to celebrate this event. The World Premier of Hymn to Music for orchestra and chorus was performed throughout the 2013-2014 season.
What makes us Different?
- The Naples Orchestra & Chorus is the only combined orchestra and chorus in Southwest Florida. This allows us to present music featuring both instruments and voice, something other organizations do not regularly provide.
- From the beginning, NOC has promoted music education among the students of our schools and colleges by inviting them to participate in our programs, and giving scholarships to help them with their music education. Under the umbrella of The Ralph Stewart Student Scholarship Program, we provide a variety of awards to students who perform with us.
- Today, outreach to students has led the NOC to become the only multi-generational organization of its type in Lee and Collier counties.
The Naples Orchestra & Chorus Statement of Diversity
We embrace diversity within our membership and our audience, recognizing that its many characteristics: religion, age, ethnicity, race, identity, sexual orientation, economic circumstance, physical and mental abilities, and philosophies, all contribute to the unique nature of our vibrant organization.
The Naples Orchestra & Chorus is a non-profit corporation with an IRS Class 501(C)(3).
