Student Scholarship

The Ralph Stewart Student Scholarship Award Program

Candidates are encouraged to participate in all of the regular season concerts and practices.  Candidates must demonstrate proficiency on an Orchestra/band instrument or as a vocalist as judged by the NOC Music Committee and the Board of Directors.  The endorsement of the NOC Music Director is required.  A letter of recommendation, by either the student’s private teacher or high school instructor maybe be required.  The Music Director, Board and Music Committee will consider the following in the award of any scholarship(s): The NOC Ralph Stewart Student Scholarship Award Program is an annual award program open to students attending high schools in Collier and Lee Counties.  The objectives of this program are to supper the communities we serve and to recognize musical proficiency, scholarship and the promotion of continued formal study in either vocal or orchestra/band music.

1. music ability and level of commitment to further their music career
2. academic proficiency
3. character, integrity
4. school or community service
5. completed application and letter of recommendation, if requested, from either his or her private teacher or HS instructor, submitted to the NOC Music Director no later than March 1 of the current concert year.

The awards will be in the form of one time amounts determined annually by the NOC Board.  There is a limit on the number of awards determined by the NOC Board annually.  The NOC Board will have the discretion to extend any single scholarship award for additional years based on the recipient’s demonstrated academic/music progress.  These awards are determined annually by the NOC Board and are not ongoing year after ongoing year for any recipient.  The recipient(s) will be announced at the intermission of the March concerts.
